AMERICAN POOL PLAYERS ASSOCIATION (APA) LEAGUE

http://www.poolplayers.com

Herbert's features the largest non-traveling division of the American Pool Players Association ("APA")  league teams in the state of New Jersey. The APA is the largest organized amateur pool league in America.  It uses a unique computerized scoring and handicapping system, that equalizes play for players of all abilities.  Teams consist of 5 to 8 players with 5 players competing on league night.

There are three league seasons each year starting in January, May and September. Each league season is 14-16 weeks long. Herbert's league members play on both an 8-ball team and a 9-ball ball team on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

At the end of each 14-16 week league session the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams, plus a wild card team compete in the playoffs for the title of Division Champion.  There are separate Division Champions for 8-ball and 9-ball.  Each league night at Herbert's is a separate division.

Every 8-ball Division Champion is then eligible to play in the $15,000 8-ball Tricup Qualifier.   Every 9-ball Division Champion is eligible to play in the $7,000 9-ball Tricup Qualifier.  Since players in Herbert's Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night leagues play on both 8-ball and 9-ball teams they may qualify for both the 8-ball and 9-ball Tricup Qualifiers.

Teams in the Tricup play down to a predetermined number.  The winning teams receive substantial travel assistance with their airfare and rooms to the $500,00 National Team Championship in Las Vegas.

Players can choose to play in the league on one night or on multiple nights.  League play starts promptly at 8 pm.

APA rules apply to league play. Players must be 18 years of age or over to join an APA team.

The cost of league play at Herbert's is $17 per player per night Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. These fees include all league and greens fees. In addition there is a $20 annual fee to join the APA.

APA league rules limit the number of advanced players that may play on a team in one night. Each APA team must include beginning players to be able to fill its weekly rooster.  As a result, Herbert's always has existing teams actively seeking beginning level players.

     Registrations are now being accepted.

     CORPORATE AND GROUP LEAGUES

Herbert's is currently forming a Happy Hour League consisting of teams from various corporations and groups.  Each team must have a minimum of 3 players.  If a corporation or group has 6 teams they may form their own division and will play only other teams from their corporation or group.
